My friends were talking about their PR applications getting approved and such and I was getting pretty annoyed because I've been checking the status of Ed’s citizenship application the last few weeks and it still says PENDING….it's been a year already!!
So I decided, what the heck! I’ll check the status online again. Logged on and thought I was seeing things. Wish someone had recorded my reaction because I swear… I looked at the screen and was about to log off thinking it was the usual PENDING status…but I looked again and it said APPROVED! I was really excited. I was smiling and practically jumping in my seat! Of course I called Ed to tell him the good news…
I get home and the confirmation letter from the ICA was in the mail….what else can I say? WOW! This is a double confirmation about Eddie’s soon to change status! He is going to become one of us…a Singaporean!
Needless to say, Lani was most thrilled with the news so she quickly wrote out the Singapore pledge for Ed so he could ‘learn’ it.

Jasmine’s Wedding
Today was my friend's big day!! She's spent so much time and effort planning it and worrying about it. Yes, we attended Jasmine’s wedding. The kids did well as flower girl and page boy. They were the center of attraction other than the bride and groom. Hehe. So proud of my two little ones.
I'm more proud of Logan because I was really expecting him to run down the aisle!

Jasmine was beautiful and the whole ceremony was perfect.
Congratulations Jasmine and Vincent.

Rehearsals for my colleague’s wedding
I took the kids to Parkway today so I could spend time with them during the school holidays. At Parkway, they wanted to do a photo shoot. We had to spend $30 on a single receipt for each kid to do a quick makeover and a simple photo shoot. Being that my kids enjoy the limelight, they really wanted to do this so I had to spend the money to get the receipts.
Aren’t they gorgeous?
I know I know....I am such an arrogant mother but I can't help it.
By 6pm, we headed over to Bukit Timah to the Methodist Church my friend Jasmine was getting married at. She had chosen my kids to be her flower girl and page boy. Very honoured. So we had to go for the rehearsals this evening.

Oh hey! Wanted to share this video of my big boy and his home-made tutorial video…GOSH! I am such a proud mother! He asked me for my phone and did this all on his own!

Kids Kampung
Ed took the day off today and so did I! We took the kids to this place in Pasir Ris called Kids Kampong.
A little story and understand what this place is all about...
It all began in the sixties, whereby most families lived in the ‘kampung’ (a malay name for village). Children living in the kampung often played together in the great outdoors. Around the kampung, one could easily find many ‘longkangs’ (a malay word for drains). On rainy days, the longkangs would be flooded and fishes (mainly longkang fish) would be found swimming in them. Seeing the longkangs filled to the brim with water and fishes, children would quickly bring their empty jam bottles and start catching fishes there. As time passed, it developed into every child’s favourite past time.
As Singapore progressed and advanced in every area, kampungs are demolished and children lost the outdoors as people all moved into flats. They are cooped up at home and glued to the one-eyed monster. Many have to study very hard and most of the time, outdoor play is taken away.
That’s when ... Pasir Ris Kid’s Kampong was birthed.
The people at Kids Kampung preserved the authentic novel way of longkang fishing.
So the kids had a blast. Even, my mother, Ed and I had a great time. And honestly, the damn longkang fish are fast buggers. It was not as easy as I thought trying to catch the little buggers. But both Lani and Logan had about 20 small fish each, in their buckets.

Blast from the past – Coconut candy!!
Does anyone of you remember this? Bangawan Solo used to have the best coconut candy which looked exactly like this and it cost $2.50. I remember I would so often buy it.
Although the mama shops (Indian shops) used to sell the slimmer square pieces but I never really tried it.
Now all of a sudden you can't find these anywhere!! Whether if it's these cubes or the small squares from the mama shops. You simply don't see them around anymore. Thus why I was so excited when I found it today at International Plaza.
The taste was heavenly. Just like yesterday!

Experimenting with cooking
When I was younger, I couldn't even fry an egg or cook instant noodles without ruining it. I always wished I could cook but never did think the day would actually come. Then I used to worry about when I have kids and when I cooked for them, they would just turn around and tell me "yuck mummy, your cooking is awful"
However, moving to America has taught me a lot and has made me more independent. Well...I had to survive right? From fixing things around the house to cooking and getting from point A to point B on my own....I have to say I've done a pretty damn good job.
Most people at my age at that time would have gone overseas to study where they know they will live at the school and food will be served and parents to back them up with cash flow and such.....
Me? I took a big leap and depended on lady luck and fate.
Left Singapore with just 2 big suitcases to meet someone I had met over the Internet....but everything fell into place (thankfully).... So back the actual topic of my post...
I've always experimented with cooking and if it came out nice, I stuck with the dish or recipe.
This evening, I experimented with my grandmother's gravy pork chops dish. It didnt come out as good as hers or too much alike but I have to say it was still nice, tasty and best of all...edible! Haha
But I really will have to try it a few more times to perfect it.

Mrs Palmer
So all this while, my pal Liam has been teasing me about "Mrs Palmer". Yes, I am Mrs Palmer but I was certain there was more to it or Liam will not be snickering about it every time he calls me that. He sends me a link to an online store called "Mrs Palmer" where they sell beach wear but I know that wasn't it. I do kind of like the logo though.
I continue to research on Liam's "fascination" about Mrs Palmer and finally know why...
"Mrs. Palmer and her five daughters - Australian slang for masturbating. 'Mrs. Palmer and her five daughters' refers to a person's hand and when you 'have a date' with Mrs. Palmer and her five daughters you have a wank. i.e. I've gotta get home and see Mrs. Palmer and her five daughters."
