Wish today was a Friday then we’d have a
3-day weekend. But a day off is still better than nothing right?
By the time we got up this morning, my
dad had already left the house as he was asked to perform (magic) for the May
Day Rally. He’s been practicing hard and been rather excited about this.
It was nice and relaxing day for us.
Anyway, my dad got home quite late and
he was floating on Cloud 9. He told us about how his performance went well
(like we had ever doubted that) and that he got to meet our Prime Minister Lee
Hsien Loong.
So proud of my dad. It sure was a
memorable day for him. He had the honour of performing in front of PM Lee,
ministers, union leaders and specially invited guests at the May Day Rally and
the moment he went on stage he noticed PM Lee's body language that he
recognized my dad.
After the show, my dad managed to meet
up with PM Lee and Mrs. Lee and after the meeting, PM Lee even took a selfie of
them together. Of course I have photos as proof!
Next PM Lee surprised my dad by
remembering his name in full and mentioned that they last met in 1971. The year
1971 was the year PM Lee was commissioned as an officer together with four
other scholars and my dad was their platoon commander.
As if all that wasn't enough, PM Lee
even posted the photo of my dad and him together, on his Instagram page.
Now I see why my dad was floating on Cloud
9!! It’s pretty funny because he was like a teenager meeting his favourite
band/actor/singer. To me, meeting PM Lee or not is no biggie but as long as my
dad is happy…good for him. He deserves that.
For me, I am more excited to meet
celebrities like New Kids on the Block or Engelbert Humperdinck. I've had
plenty of chances to meet a few big time celebrities so I can only imagine how
my dad is feeling right now.
